Merrill's Marine Terminal is Northern New England's leading general cargo facility. Located in the Port of Portland, Maine, USA, it regularly serves a region encompassing all of New England and parts of New York. Sprague Energy, based in nearby Portsmouth, New Hampshire, recently began managing the operations at Merrill's Marine Terminal. Sprague is committed to maintaining Merrill's experienced and productive workforce; delivering reliable terminal and stevedoring services for break bulk, bulk and project cargoes.

Panamax vessels and ocean going barges are easily accommodated by the 35' mlw by 1050' berth. About one third of cargo handled is break bulk; project cargoes with single lifts of up to 150 mt using ships gear, and up to 100 mt using shore gear are accepted. Long or short boom self dischargers and straight bulkers using shore gear discharge to two fifty ton hoppers for transfer to stockpiles.

200,000 sf of covered storage; forty car siding capacity and three on site stockpile pads are designed to protect cargo from contamination and for easy accumulation or inland shipment.

Proprietary software allows detailed tracking of individual cargo elements as well as bulk inventories. Constant measurement of quality indicators supports an aggressive program of continuous improvement.

At Merrill, quality performance is a way of life.
